a few more days to merry xmas

so its almost the end of the year and xmas comes sooner than expected.
however i have come to realise, somehow as one gets older, the different festive seasons dont seem to mean much or be that big a hoo-haa as when we were younger.
things like birthdays, chinese new year, xmas.. every year it just seems to be the same.. and i guess after about 10 years of these yearly holidays its just 'another holiday'...
doesnt really matter what day it is...
in the past i have always looked forward to chinese new year cuz it meant the time to buy brand new clothes, new shoes, even new underwear.
but like constance said, how things have changed.. we dont even need to wait for CNY to buy clothes now, we buy clothes practically every month or so. i still remember the times me and constance go shopping last minute for CNY clothes, cuz we try to go 3 weeks before it but we nv fail to not get anything we like.. and then when we go last minute shopping, we will indeed find somethings to buy but we will end up only wearing it once for CNY, and maybe once more just to make the money worthwhile and then it will lie in our closet cuz we din really liked it that much in the first place.. just for CNY's sake. haha...

i also always looked forward to Christmas cuz of gatherings with friends and the excuse to have some lame gift exchange thingy. my most fond memories of christmas is somehow the OCIP gatherings we have.. sadly this year we are not having any xmas gathering tog, but it will be a start-of-year affair. i still remember the times we had pizza and KFC at serene's place, and we played sparkles and some of us got ponded.. and rachel was still in singapore that time and it was a marvelous time, playing the stupid guess number game and drink gross mixtures as forfeits. and then it progressed to steamboat at jaren's place... and then last year we metup at Loft which was this very nice place at bugis, for drinks and celebrated jaren's bday as well. we even went for super late night macdonald's...

this year, i dont feel much xmas spirit... maybe cuz theres no actual xmas gathering to go to... i did go to my secondary school bbq/potluck gathering last friday, and there was this gift exchange (presumbly for christmas but kinda too early so i din feel any xmas-ly mood), of which i actually received a tube of M&Ms??!! omg. haha. i finished the whole tube by the next day. so pathetic gift right, haha but my gift was a recycled gift from wx's hse anyway cuz i forgot to prepare one but at least its brand new and surely costs more than M&Ms?!! (its a cute Pooh jigsaw okay!) but hahah karma has its ways, cuz the guy who gave me the M&Ms received from wx this box of cinnamon tea that she got from Sri Lanka. wahha i am pretty sure he wouldnt appreciate that. but i told him Congrats when he picked her gift. LOL, and they all said they sensed my sarcasm... hahaha... oh well, it was a pretty memorable gathering though there wasnt more than a handful of them there that i was actually that close to..but come nx year, i would have actually have a decade long of friendship with some of them.. cuz we were from the same class way back in Sec 1/3.. haha.. 10 years... sounds so long and old.. omg.. but anyway its just really nice that at least we are still keeping in touch. the last time we had a prss gathering was also at pasir ris park, and also a bbq.. that was almost 4 years ago, cuz i rmb it was in july, just before we started school in NTU.. time just flies.. and now certain things have changed and i m happy cuz its for the best. the scene that day is just like a physical representation of my long and finally fulfilled wish of getting back the friendship i have with A. i cant change the past but surely a friendship that has at last resurfaced after 5 years of strain is worth keeping :)

and as 2008 comes almost to an end, i just want to reflect on how this year has been.. (cuz i dont know whn i will nx blog, and i dont want to miss out and suddenly find myself in 'next year')

in 2008... its been a smooth ride generally, smoother than 2007, and 2006...
happier than 2007 definitely.. and more worth remembering.

despite the first kinda rough 3 mths, the sadness, the anger, disappointment, betrayal etc.. and of course not mentioning the surprise announcement and unexpected course of happenings after last year's countdown, 2008 has been, i could say, a great year, cuz i got to meet someone else. its like so random so uncalled for, and then noel came into my life and just like that its been 8 mths. 8 mths isnt that long but it isnt tht short either. its a time period that is enough for me to know that i am really lucky to have someone with me, to spend my days with. and i hope that it will extend to all the following years too :) the year of 2008 has brought me much laughter too, rolling in bed and hitting the walls cuz its just too funny.. having someone to hug me and say the sweetest things cuz he thks the things i do/say are darn cute/ridiculous. lol.. for every tear i have shed in the early part of this relationship, i believe we are so much better off now for we have more laughter and tears of joy. so this christmas, let me rejoice the fact that i have noel! hahaha.. thats so cheesy... merry christmas noel.

let me dedicate this song to my bf noel! -

The First Nowell

Noel! Noel! Noel! Noel!
Born is the King of Israel!

hahahha.... am i lucky or what, my bf is a king?!

okay so erm, let me continue my 2008 reflection..

also thankful that it was a fast year, that my internship couldnt have been smoother and i couldnt have met nicer people.. its great to know the DB ppl, who are always so helpful, so friendly and we still keep in touch. in addition, 2008 also saw the birth of OURGORGEOUSDAYS@livejournal! :) its something i always wanted to do, have my own shop, but the only regret is not starting it earlier.. but oh well, we will jiayou, and continue for as long as possible. (probably also the reason why i dont just buy clothes during CNY now!!! lol. i am gonna have clothes clearance soon...)

lastly, in 2008 i also lost some friendships, not literally, but maybe the correct word is 'faded'.. i dont know if they might be renewed or rekindled as strongly ever again, but i will never forget those who have helped me so much when i was so down, with their kind words, physical company, as well as so much support.. the list of people as followed, whether they ever see this or not... not in order of merit haha...

wenxin, siting, shuenyun, jiaen, constance, david, jason, johnny, roland, my sister, and of course noel, who came and changed everything (such as my weekly running plan) :D hahah jk! (please dont get me to start now)

i hope that 2009 will be even better, with more love, more money, and a good job so i can get my hands on those zara shoes!! :D 2009 is gonna be the year of changes in my life, to become a full fledged working adult, so i hope it will be a smooth transition too:)

and so let us end this year with some f21-loving!!
