late nights fever

im really supposed to be sleeping
BUT i just cant get myself to
maybe because the hours are precious
ticking away
the supposedly (TBC) last week of my days of post-graduation rest
to be honest, i am filled with a little dread and fear about a new employment
and that dread was magnified (and anger seeped in) after hon told me how he's expected to burn his weekends
for his company to take photos for any big or small fucking silly events that are merely for storage in the archive. oh the false pretense of this industry is sickening.
damn them, have they never heard of a digital camera?
now cameras are all 10 or 12 megapixels, im sure they dont need my hon to go down with their lousy ancient DSLR just to take some photos of them participating in the standard chart marathon or someone's birthday party
my hon is not a freelance photographer, and they dont even compensate him in any form for sacrificing his weekends
they dont even ask
they simply command
this incident rudely awakens me to the fact that employees have to do what their bosses ask (or rather, command)
it is with gritted teeth and a forced smile that we are carrying out duties beyond our already stressful 8-12 hours weekdays
hon, i feel for you.. and pls dont think that i will be upset or disappointed about the flea

sigh, the life of a typical singaporean is so sad
work, work and more work
seriously, i just wish that the country we live in isnt such a competitive one
to work 8-12 hours a day is already so long, we spend more time in office than in bed
not to mention having to work on weekends
isnt the point of studying and getting a certificate/degree to allow us to work in a more comfortable environment, and toil less hours as compared to our non/lowly educated parents?
instead of farming, rearing pigs and chickens, or selling soya bean, i thought we were supposed to be the white collar workers?
but with all the mental stress nowadays, and ridiculous pre-employment assignments and discussion topics given out to you for your job interviews, i think maybe i will be happier serving burgers at MOS Burger or waitressing at sushi tei.
if only life was so easily maintained - no Aldo, no Topshop, no Peugeot needed - and we could all lived, just by rearing our pigs and chickens.

i hope that i will be proven wrong
that indeed, there exists some company out there, that does think of its employees as real humans with real needs for work-life balance
and not just workaholics or slaves
i heard somewhere, work should complement your life
how true.... but how rare too

goodbye or see you,

I'll be your best kept secret or your biggest mistake.
